The Adult Learners’ Festival 2008
Did you know that there are 300,000+ adult learners throughout
The festival is about highlighting the educational opportunities that are available to adults in Co. Meath and also showcasing the achievements and work of current and past adult learners and providers.
The events on offer during the festival are as follows:
(1) Mini Roadshow with the eLearning Unit.
As part of the Festival the eLearning Unit will travel to a number of venues in the county highlighting the range of services and courses offered by Co. Meath VEC. There will be free internet access with instruction in the eLearning Unit and also demonstrations on how to use the new Meath VEC website (www.meathvec.ie) The details of the roadshow are as follows:
(1) Monday 4th February
· Duleek 9am - 10.30am
· Ashbourne 11am - 12pm
· Dunshaughlin 12.30pm - 2pm
· Trim 3pm - 4pm
· Athboy 4.30pm - 5.30pm
· Thursday 7th February
· Navan 5pm - 6.30pm
· Kells 7pm - 8.30pm
(2) Launch of New Community Group Newsletter
Co. Meath VEC is also launching a new community education newsletter for community groups interested in community education. The first edition of this newsletter will be launched during the Adult Learners’ Festival.
(3) Group Promotion
We are organising a visit to the new Kells Women's Network group to promote the services on offer from the VEC and options that are available to them. This will take place on Tuesday evening 5th Feb
(4) Art and Photography Exhibition
This will take place in the VTOS centre Abbey Road Navan on Wednesday 6th. February from 1.30 – 4 p.m. Light refreshments are available to all during the exhibition and open day.
(5) Radio Interviews LMFM
During the Adult Learners Festival LMFM radio will be broadcasting a number of interviews with adult learners.
(6) Trim Role Reversal Video
Trim Youthreach will show a video of their Role Reversal Week. As part of this project young learners from the centre took on the role of managing and teaching in the Youthreach centre for a period of one week. The results can be seen on this exciting and thought-provoking video.
(7) Kells Youthreach
Kells Youthreach will focus on learning through social and community activities, aimed at building relationships and learning how to make a difference in the global community. The day of community activity is Feb 5th, and day of fundraising is Feb 7th. The fundraising focus is crises in
