County Meath VEC’s Community Education Service supports and assists new and existing community groups and voluntary organisations to establish community-based education programmes. Community Education aims to develop new approaches to programmes in a non-formal, community-based setting and in a supportive atmosphere. Community Education programmes aim to help learners develop their self-confidence and educational skills base so that they can actively take part in their communities.
Community Education also provides support to community groups and voluntary organisations with the provision of grants. The Community Education grants scheme provides tuition hours or costs to community groups or voluntary organisations that wish to run learning programmes in their own areas.
Applications are invited from community groups and voluntary organisations for support regarding the delivery of educational programmes under County Meath VEC’s Community Education Programme.
In line with Government guidelines for usage of funding, priority will be given to courses/programmes which:
· Combat social isolation
· Promote social inclusion
· Foster personal development
Programmes should aim to develop the individual’s self-confidence and educational skills base in order to enable and facilitate their development and participation in the life of their community. Community-based courses are often the first step towards further options and choices for the adult learner.
The latest date for receipt of completed applications is Friday 23rd March at 4pm. The application form is downloadable from CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD or are available by contacting:
