Thinking of going to college but not sure where to begin?
Unistart is the course for you.
UNISTART is a FREE course which prepares adults who have a Leaving Certificate or FETAC equivalent for college entry in 2012

Who can join this course?
If you are over 21 years and have been unemployed for more than 6 months, then this could be the course for you.
Will I receive a payment while I am doing the course?
Yes if you are currently in receipt of any welfare payments, or signing for credits then you will receive an equivalent allowance while you are on UNISTART. You may also qualify for an additional bonus payment, and meal and travel allowance.
What will I be studying?
The Course aims to prepare you for entry into College or PLC courses.
You will have the opportunity to revise a choice of subjects such as English, History, Biology, Geography or Spanish.
You will have classes in Critical Writing skills, Critical thinking and will have ample opportunity for guidance and help with the CAO application process.
All UNISTART students will receive help and preparation for the mature students interview process.
Can I get help with my computer skills?
Yes, IT skills will be integrated throughout the course, with special focus on learning how to use Moodle/Blackboard type programmes that are used in colleges.
Where and when will the course take place?
In Co. Meath VEC offices, Abbey Road, Navan. The course will commence in December 2011 and run until May 2012. This is a full time course, and students will participate from 9.30—4.30 each day
How much does it cost?
The course is free of charge to all eligible applicants. Books and materials are provided free of charge. All we need is your time and commitment.
